I’m sure you have already heard of Seoul’s crazy coffeeshop culture. For those of you who haven’t, let me enlighten you real quick: Koreans love coffee and what they love even more is going to coffeeshops. Believe me, your Korean friends will find a million reasons to go to coffeeshops. You want to have a date? Go to a coffeeshop. You just wanna have some emergency girltalk at 10 pm? You go to a coffeeshop. And when your friends invite you to a study session outside of the library, believe me, you will find yourself in a coffeeshop surrounded by millions of other students hiding their faces behind heavy books there.

So since Seoul is spiked with interesting, individualistic and fun coffeeshops to go to, my girlfriends and I ended up going on some adventure time today to find another trending place in Seoul – and we found it. Continue reading “Now Trending: Standard Love Dance – Every Girl’s Paradise”

Confessions of a Party Girl

If going clubbing was a legit major, I would probably be a student with honors. Since I have been in Korea I have pretty much not left out on any party. Hanging out at the infamous Playground while getting drunk of some cheapass Soju? Did that. Went to a rooftop party on a hot and steamy summer night? Done that. When you have been living in Seoul for quite some time, you sometimes forget how many places you still haven’t discovered! So when my friend from Belgium hit me up, I decided to join her for some hella needed girltalks and a Hot Chocolate in Itaewon.

After having a typical Korean dinner in one of the hidden side streets (I was surprised that you can even find cheap Korean food in the infamous foreigner district), we decided to switch it up a little and go to one of Seoul’s latest trending hotspots: a warehouse cafe!  Continue reading “Now Trending: Warehouse Cafes”

The Truth About Living Abroad

“I am not the same, having seen the moon shine on the other side of the world.”                                                                                                            Mary Anne Radmacher

“I’m wondering how you will be like when you come back. 15 months abroad will change you…”, someone told me a couple of days before I hopped on the plane to move to the other side of the world. We were sitting there on a sticky and hot friday evening  surrounded by buzzing mosquitos while drinking a cold beer on the patio of my parent’s house. I remember nodding, holding stronger onto my glass as I started thinking of leaving my loved ones behind. And now seven months later I come to realize: God, was he right.
